The Best Places
With several splendid wine-producing areas, the Western Cape is the definition of oenophile country. The history of viticulture in the Cape stretches back centuries to late 1600s after the first Europeans settled here. Since then thousands of wine farms have been established, all while refining and perfecting the vines grown locally and the fruits and libations they produce.
The well-worn wine-lovers’ paths through the world-renowned Stellenbosch, Constantia and Franschoek winelands are globally celebrated; and for very good reason. Not only do these wineries, vineyards and estates produce world-class wines of several incredible varietals, they also boast breathtakingly beautiful sceneries and spectacular gourmet dining experiences.
There are of course several other equally impressive wine-producing areas of the Cape; Elgin, Paarl and Wellington to name but a few.
